A documentary series about the greatest music you’ve never heard

THE SERIES

The Music Nomad is a travel show based on music producer Daniel Tiuri Wils’ experiences exploring countless countries around the world and unraveling the circumstances which have caused local music traditions to (almost) disappear.

With a portable record player and a microphone in hand he travels to war zones, abandoned archives, and rural homes where he speaks with silenced singers and records marginalized musicians.

Aleppo, Syria, 2016

THE URGENCY

Through censorship, religious reform, and political unrest many music cultures are now under serious threat.

Countess irreplaceable recordings, unique traditions, and one-of-a-kind musicians are disappearing every day.

Less than 18% of recorded music is currently available on streaming services.

Entire music archives are literally wasting away.

ABOUT

The series The Music Nomad is developed by Daniel Tiuri Wils and Robert-Jan Glas.

Daniel built a fanatic cult following with releases through record labels like Universal Music. His work has hundreds of millions of streams on platforms like Spotify. He has traveled to over forty countries, collecting, recording, and remixing non-western recordings. He also runs his own label, World of Wils.

Robert-Jan produced hundreds of commissioned films that reached millions of people. He has worked in journalism, film, and advertising for over fifteen years. Through his production company Gloww he uses his network and know-how exclusively for initiatives that have the potential to make the world a better place.
